Dr. Gary "Ty" Huber grew up in South Dakota as the youngest of three children. He attended college at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD where he earned his B.A. in Biology. As an undergraduate student, he was also the center fielder for the baseball team. Upon graduation, Dr. Huber moved to Chicago, IL and matriculated into the Illinois College of Optometry receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2004. Dr. Huber has completed several professional externships focusing on the specialty areas of Pediatrics, Contact Lenses, Low Vision and Advanced Eye Care at the Illinois Eye Institute , the University of Chicago , and the Westside VA Hospital . Dr. Huber worked as the primary Optometrist at Family Eyecare Associates, a private Optometric practice in Olympia Fields, IL, for three years after graduation. Dr. Huber has been a member of the American Optometric Association for seven years. He is Board Certified to diagnose, manage, and treat eye disease.
Dr. Huber provides comprehensive eye care or the entire family, including infants. He enjoys pediatric eye care and works well with young children. Challenges in the field of Optometry that Dr. Huber finds particularly rewarding are successfully providing comfortable lenses for those hard-to-fit contact lenses and managing ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic and hypertensive eye changes, and macular degeneration, among others. Huber Eyecare also is completely handicap accessible with a wheel-in lane for those in wheelchairs.
Dr. Huber and his wife Jill are the proud parents of two children. They are now proud to call Rochester home after transitioning from Chicago to be closer to family. Dr. Huber is an avid sports fan and would be willing to watch and participate in almost all sports, but particularly enjoys baseball and football.
